Ivan and Elaine Nash owned a building company for 30 years, developing residential and commercial properties, so when he and wife Elaine decided to move to a retirement village they knew what to look out for.
The couple are very happy with their choice of Real Living’s Epsom Village in Auckland, where they have now been living for more than 12 years.
Location was also a key factor in selecting the village. It is close to Newmarket shops, Cornwall Park and Auckland Domain and within easy reach of the city centre.
The couple believe moving to the village has enabled them to enjoy their retirement to the fullest, lead a creative and active lifestyle and spend time with friends and family.
They particularly appreciate the friendly atmosphere and range of social events provided. For Elaine, a former secretary and personal assistant, it has helped her to overcome shyness.
“The first time we visited the village’s Lounge, we ended up convincing all the residents to go outside and dance the conga,” says Ivan.
They enjoy joining the village’s weekly organised outings to the countryside and Elaine, who had also worked as a dressmaker in the past, has taken up crafting, creating handmade cards.
“I research on the internet, experiment and get the ideas and adapt them,” she says.
